Thought of the Day (aka rant): A large number of people in the UK suffer from movement disorders.
Essential tremor - the most common movement disorder - affects one in 20 people under the age of 40 and one in five people over 65. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/physical_health/conditions/movementdisorders1.shtml)
120,000 people in the UK have Parkinson's. (http://www.hesonline.nhs.uk/Ease/servlet/ContentServer?siteID=1937&categoryID=868)
100,000 have MS. (http://www.mssociety.org.uk/what-is-ms)
300,000 people in the UK suffer from Tourettes. (http://www.touretteshero.com/faq/)
Isn't it time that these people were more represented on TV so that if you're on a train maybe not quite as many people stare at you? Just think public awareness needs to be raised a bit to reduce the levels of ignorance.
